Rohini is the fourth of the 27 nakshatras, spanning sidereal Taurus 10° to 23°20′. Its Vimshottari lord is the Moon and its deity Brahma (Prajapati). In the sky it is associated with the star Aldebaran. If the Moon occupied this span at birth, Rohini is the birth nakshatra.

In the Puranas Rohini is the Moon’s most beloved consort, and tradition holds that Shri Krishna was born under Rohini. It is linked with growth, fertility of the land and beauty.
